Ten bloggers in Northern Ireland will reveal the secrets of their success at Libraries NI’s first ever Blogging Inspiration Session at Ormeau Road Library, Belfast, this Thursday, 18 October.
Presented by TrainingMatchmaker.com the bloggers, vloggers and podcasters will reveal their motivation, why they started and share top tips on what has helped them become successful.
The event will outline some of the rewards the digitally savvy content creators have enjoyed from sharing their thoughts online which include landing a perfect job, finding friendship, challenging misconceptions of disability, creating a shared teaching practice with parents and boosting Northern Ireland’s profile online.
Chartered Marketer Christine Watson said the event is for existing bloggers and those that want to dabble for the first time.
“In Northern Ireland there is a thirst for knowledge and a real talent for sharing and telling stories” she said. “Blogging, vlogging and podcasting are the latest ways we can show the world what we experience, what we love and enable every one of us to use our words, pictures, videos and voice to inspire others.
“The ten people who will be sharing their secrets include bloggers, vloggers, podcasters and trainers from all walks of life. From blogging on a corporate website to creating their own lifestyle blog, educational YouTube channel to simple daily journalising to improve mental health. They are all successful in different ways and their content engages people online. Their collective wisdom will have all who attend reaching for their computers, tablets and phones.”
Jim O’Hagan of Libraries NI added:
“Libraries NI is pleased to offer this free Blogging Inspiration event to introduce people to the art of blogging. Storytelling is forever evolving and blogging, vlogging and podcasting is quickly becoming the new platform for telling stories through text, images and video. Whether you’re blogging for business, documenting your family history or keeping a record of travelling expeditions, you’re using the power of words to tell a story.”
As well as blogging for fun HR specialist Claire Loftus from Go Evolve, a trainer within the TrainingMatchmaker.com community of local trainers will be giving attendees an insight into how writing a blog can help bolster career plans. She will also share how to avoid some of the mistakes that can be made online that damage reputation and ultimately cost jobs.
The blogging inspiration panel, facilitated by journalist and commentator Tina Calder, includes former Great British Sewing Bee contestant Angeline Murphy, Ciaran Connolly (Top Local Guide for Google Maps in Ireland); Emer D, Lee Maguire (Travel Blogger for Dyspraxia Ireland); Emily Hancock (Vlogger at Style me with Love); David Gordon (Podcaster TravelBites), the faceless founder of NIExplorer, Lifestyle blogger Avril Keys and Michelle Connolly (creator of LearningMole).
The event is one of many Libraries NI events taking place in libraries across Northern Ireland as part of Get Online Week 2018 – a campaign aiming to inspire individuals to #Try1Thing this Autumn.
