Introduction

As part of my Erasmus+ placement in Belfast, Northern Ireland, I am eager to gain both technical and personal skills that will support my future career in IT and web development. This placement provides a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of website creation and management while also experiencing a new work culture and environment.

Goals for My Learning

  1. Mastering WordPress Basics:
    • Learn how to create and edit pages effectively.
    • Understand how to adjust layouts to make websites more user-friendly.
    • Optimise website content for better functionality and usability.
  2. Improving Website Performance:
    • Study how to clean up outdated or inefficient code to improve compatibility and performance.
    • Explore the basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to help websites rank higher in search engines.
    • Understand how to identify and address issues with responsiveness and design.
  3. Developing Blogging Skills:
    • Learn how to write and format blogs that are engaging, professional, and suitable for an online audience.
    • Understand how to integrate blogs into a website and ensure they align with the platform’s branding.
  4. Gaining Insights into Work Culture:
    • Observe and adapt to the Northern Irish work environment, focusing on the differences from the Czech Republic.
    • Learn how trust-based and flexible working methods contribute to productivity.
    • Understand how responsibilities are distributed within a professional team.
  5. Building Soft Skills:
    • Improve communication skills by collaborating with team members in an English-speaking environment.
    • Enhance problem-solving abilities by working independently on tasks and troubleshooting challenges.
