Hey! My name is Marilen Brinkmeier, I am 18 years old and I live in Bremen, Germany. Right now IÂ am living and working in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for three weeks, where I will complete my school internship. I will be doing my traineeship at Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing. I study at an economic school in Bremen, and my advanced courses are Law and German, both of which I really enjoy. Besides school, I also manage the social media accounts of a restaurant in my hometown. I really enjoy travelling, which is why I am very happy to have the opportunity to do my work placement abroad.
In this blog, you can read all about my learning goals and some places I would like to visit during my time in Belfast.
My learning goals:
- I would like to learn how professional social media content is created and what kind of impression different types of content can create. I also want to understand the differences between various platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn. I have little experience with LinkedIn, and I would like to learn how to use these platforms effectively.
- Then I would be happy to learn how to use WordPress.
- In addition, I would like to learn more about analysing reach and user interactions.
- I plan to complete online courses offered by the Canva Design School.
- I would also like to improve my photography skills. For this, I may take a course at  Apple.
- I also find it exciting to get to know modern recording devices (such as glasses with built-in cameras). Meta Glasses and DJI
- Since this is the first blog I have ever written, I hope to learn more through this experience and improve my writing and story telling skills so that my publish content is compelling and engaging for the readers and viewers.
- I also hope to gain a better understanding of marketing strategies, including analysing target groups and evaluating campaign results.
- Furthermore, I would like to gain insights into the preparation and organisation of events and learn more about how they are carried out and what needs to be done behind the scenes.
- Finally, my personal goal is, of course, to improve my English and, above all, become more confident speaking it. I hope that these experiences will help me grow not only professionally but also personally.

- Belfast City Hall
- Queen’s University
- The Cathedral Quarter
By visiting these sights, I hope to learn more about and experience Northern Ireland’s culture, landscape, and history. However, I am also a very spontaneous person and enjoy exploring cities simply by walking around and discovering places to eat without focusing too much on pre planning where I have to go in advance.
I am looking forward to the next few weeks in Belfast and the opportunities that come with this experience. My goal is to gain many practical and new experiences in the field of marketing, as well as experiences with new people and a different culture in general. I am very excited to see what awaits me.
