My name is Paulin and I am currently undertaking an apprenticeship as a Media Agent specialising in print and digital media in Berlin. I work at a publishing house, where I am currently part of the marketing department.
Through the GoEurope programme, I have come to Belfast for a funded traineeship. This is particularly exciting for me, as I have always wanted to visit the UK. During my four-week placement. with Trainer Christine Watson, founder of Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing and Training Matchmaker.
I get to work alongside another German trainee – Erijon for a few weeks at the start of my traineeship and you can find his individual learning goals and achievements on his blogs on TrainingMatchmaker.com too. He has volunteered to teach me how to use the DJI video camera, the Meta glasses.

When I learned about the opportunity to undertake an internship abroad, I immediately knew I wanted to take part. We were offered a choice of several European cities, including Paris, Istanbul and Madrid. However, I was certain that Belfast was the right choice for me, as I have always wanted to visit an English-speaking country. As a fan of Game of Thrones, I was also particularly keen to visit Northern Ireland, where a lot of the scenes I have watched were filmed.
Language and Culture
During my traineeship, I aim to improve my professional speaking and writing skills in English. Throughout my time living and working in Belfast I hope to become more fluent and confident in everyday communication. I am also interested in learning about the work ethic here in Belfast and how it compares to German work culture. Beyond the workplace, I would like to explore the city and especially its natural surroundings. I am particularly looking forward to booking a day trip to the Giant’s Causeway, which I am very excited about.Marketing
Overall, I would like to benefit from Christine’s expertise in marketing, she is a Chartered Marketer and former elected Chair of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ireland region. I especially hope to see whether there are ideas and insights that I can take back to my company in Germany. I may also have the opportunity to take part in some of Christine’s in person and online training workshops. Furthermore, I would like to develop my skills and knowledge in social media marketing and become more familiar with platforms such as Meta Business Suite and Google Business Profile. I especially want to learn more about the importance of a google business profile and how to edit it because this is new to me and is likely important to my workplace at home.Video Editing and Photography Skills
I would like to improve my ability to edit photos and videos using my phone, possibly by attending one of the free of charge Apple store workshops in Belfast. I also hope to learn how to create and edit reels for social media marketing. In addition, I want to develop my photography skills, particularly for capturing high-quality commercial images at events or for companies to use on social media platforms.Blogging and WordPress
At my company in Germany, I have had some experience using WordPress, but I am interested in seeing whether there are any differences here. As I have not blogged before, I would also like to gain a better understanding of blogging in general. I’d like to learn more about the importance of alt texts in publishing as it is important to make everything accessible for everyone and this is especially important for someone like me working in publishing.Canva
I have already used Canva frequently for school projects, such as presentations and flyers. However, I believe there are many more features that I have not yet explored. Therefore, I plan to complete some of the free certificated Canva courses available on their website and I will get to benefit from my Trainer Christine’s course materials on Advanced Canva. For example I want to learn how to bulk create and how to use Canva to make content for different customers. Published by Paulin Within these four weeks I aim to have the words that I write, photos that I take, videos that I create and graphics that I craft published on commercial social media pages including Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, Google Business Profile, Tik Tok and YouTube. I also aim to produce high quality marketing communications that will be approved by organisations and uploaded to their commercial websites and blogs and work on press releases and photo captions that get published in the local media too.About Me
